I replaced the original wood top which looked like a chopping board with a larger piece of table top. It was offset so I can fit 26" bar stools on one side. Took me around 2 hours to put together. For extra sturdiness, I purchased carpenters wood glue and apply appropriate amount to all the sides, corner, drawers...basically any surface that meets together. I love the cabinets. Its where I put my bread machine, rice cooker and cereals. Not a fan the the drawers. It can be steeper.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL - IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT IKEA OR WAYFAIR, STOP. THIS IS A VERY STURDY, BEAUTIFUL AND GOOD SIZED ISLAND. THIS ONLY THING I WISH IT CAME WITH IS A GRANITE TOP, NOT A THICK - GREAT QUALITY - TOP. I WORK IN FOOD SAFETY SO FOR THOSE WHO DO USE WOOD CHOPPING BOARDS, AND CHOP RAW CHICKEN, FISH, ETC., USE BLEACH TO CLEAN IT. AND DO NOT CHOP ANYTHING ELSE ON IT AFTER THAT, UNLESS YOU HAVE BLEACHED OUT THE CHICKEN, FISH, ETC., T0 AVOID CROSS CONTAMINATION, OR SALMONELLA - FOOD POISONING. I SIMPLY USE GRANITE CHOP BLOCKS. AND IT SAVEES YOU FROM SLICING UP THAT BEAUTIFUL WODDEN SURFACE. CONGRATS - ANOTHER SUPERIOR PRODUCT!!
